The reputation of this restaurant has long been established. In Padua, Veneto, Le Calandre is the place where it all began for the Alajmo family. Founded in 1981 by Erminio Alajmo and Rita Chimetto, it was their sons Max and Raf who propelled this restaurant onto the international scene in 2003, before opening other establishments including the succulent Quadri in Venice. Le Calandre is next to perfection. A true culinary laboratory for chef Max Alajmo, the cuisine is as respectful of its regional roots as it is elevated and atypical. In the intimate and warm dining room, the team skilfully applies itself to the restaurant’s motto: “Take care of each guest as you would for yourself, down to the smallest detail”. In other words, flawlessness awaits.

Ristorante Le Calandre

Ristorante Quadri enjoys a sublime view over Piazza San Marco. Created in 1831 above a cafe, itself historically renowned, this restaurant was taken over in 2010 by the Alajmo family, fine restaurateurs in the Veneto Region for three generations. The dining room, recently renovated by Philippe Starck, is a reflection of the cuisine: a model of elegance and poetry. Designed by Max Alajmo and prepared in Venice by chef Sergio Preziosa, the menus are an inventive reinterpretation of the traditional cuisine of Italy and the Veneto Region. The combinations are bold and the quality of the ingredients, direct from the Rialto Market, is impeccable. Indulge in such dishes as cauliflower flakes with caviar or tortelli stuffed with crab and served with stracciatella and white truffle.

Atop a landmark Art Deco skyscraper in The Big Apple’s Financial District, SAGA is a New York story that will dazzle your five senses. This restaurant – spread over five floors with a 360° panoramic view, solarium, and three large outdoor terraces – is unlike any other dining space in New York. Two floors are reserved for private suites, with warm-toned velvet, marble tables, and sculpted stone details that intensify the hushed, intimate atmosphere. The main dining room on the 63rd floor has vast windowscapes offering a wraparound view of the skyline bristling with high-rise buildings. SAGA

In the 16th arrondissement of the French capital, Saint James Paris lovingly cultivates a world of unmatched refinement and art de vivre. Close to the Arc de Triomphe and Avenue Foch, this exceptional hotel reveals a discreet character imbued with pastoral charm and an aura unlike any other. Graced with 5,000 square metres of greenery, it holds court amidst marvellous gardens made all the more remarkable by the landscape designer Xavier de Chirac. This former private mansion is now bridging its romantic neoclassical soul with modernity, thanks to the talents of interior designer Laura Gonzalez, who has achieved a perfect symbiosis of plant life and art deco. At the Bellefeuille gourmet restaurant, Chef Grégory Garimbay pays tribute to French gastronomy and the richness of its terroirs by honouring the raw produce he works with sincerity and passion. Bellefeuille

Saison was the first gastronomic restaurant to prepare open-hearth wood-fired cuisine. The former warehouse that is home to this San Francisco dining institution combines a rustic flavor with intimacy and refinement. The backdrop sets the tone for the culinary experience that takes place, which pays tribute to the local terroir as well as contemporary culinary technical innovation. The fertile abundance of the Californian landscape is a constant source of inspiration for Richard Lee, who works with the best producers, farmers and fishers in the region. Driven by a penchant for simplicity, the chef surprises with highly original ingredient combinations and subtle seasonal flavors, amplified by a flamboyant cooking method that has become his trademark. Alongside the food, the wine list is renowned as among the best in the United States, certainly equal to the creativity of the dishes. It is structured around the most remarkable vintages of the New and Old World, with a predilection for wines from Burgundy. And nothing quite compares to sipping buckwheat tea after a meal near to the flaming hearth.

Saison

Close to West Lake and the city’s main attractions, the hotel and villas are nestled amidst splendid gardens of trees and bamboo in Hangzhou. The atmosphere is peaceful with the elegant lines of the buildings reflecting in the ponds of water and the traditional decor of the spacious and bright rooms serving to please the eye. In December of 2016, chef Kyle Connaughton and his wife Katina, a farmer, opened SingleThread. The restaurant’s eleven course tasting menu is driven by the couple’s farm produce and personalised to meet the preferences of their guests. With five guest rooms above the restaurant, overnight guests can enjoy luxurious amenities and an exclusive breakfast. Authentic hospitality is a driving principle at SingleThread. “When you come here, whether you’re dining in our restaurant or spending the night upstairs, we want you to feel like a guest in our home,” says Kyle.

This charming 19th century vintner’s house is dedicated to well-being, the appreciation of art and love of the surrounding nature of the Pannonian lowlands. The remarkable cuisine of Chef Alain Weissgerber will enchant your palate. Created in 1984, the former farm hosts not only one of the best culinary addresses but is also a romantic hotel, a grocery store in the middle of a beautiful garden that will seduce you.

Restaurant taubenkobel

In the small town of Brusciano, about fifteen kilometres from Naples, take a seat under the shade of Vesuvius and embark on a generous culinary journey at Taverna Estia. Chef Francesco Sposito has been offering a modern and inventive cuisine inspired by traditional recipes from Campania since 2005. You will quickly be seduced by his unique interpretation of Neapolitan classics or by dishes like his fettuccine with pink shrimp tartare, accompanied by a wine specially chosen by his brother Mario Sposito, the restaurant’s sommelier and maître de maison. Terra

Chef Thomas Keller’s technique has become so famous that Pixar studios asked him to create the ratatouille featured at the end of the film “Ratatouille”. In the heart of Napa Valley, this emblematic three-star chef, whose restaurant Per Se is a New York culinary landmark, has created one of California’s finest dining spots. Working closely with fellow chef Ara Jo, Keller and his team serve minimalist cuisine using products like oysters and truffles in “sequenced meals”: in order to maximize surprises, no single ingredient is ever repeated in a meal. Two tasting menus are offered daily, flavored with fresh herbs and vegetables cultivated in the kitchen garden.

Patrick O’Connell abandoned his dream of becoming an actor for cooking and the “living theater” of the restaurant world. Just an hour’s drive from Washington DC, this sumptuous hideaway nestled at the foot of the Blue Ridge Mountains is a world-renowned destination for gourmets in the know. The menu spotlights Chef O’Connell’s spectacular, refined American dishes, like carpaccio of herb-crusted baby lamb with Caesar salad ice cream, served in dining rooms whose inspired décor creates a wondrous cocoon of luxury. The Inn’s rooms and suites are aptly named after America’s culinary pioneers, and opulent lounges complete the transformation to an idyllic fantasy world.

At the foot of MoMA, in the vibrant Midtown district, The Modern is a distillation of Manhattan fine dining, lifestyle, and culture. The restaurant features refined yet unexpectedly playful dishes that highlight exceptional ingredients and seasonality. Set on a 58-acre estate, The Torridon was once the hunting lodge of Earl William KingNoel. This Victorian mansion’s tall sash windows open out onto the deep blue of Loch Torridon and the breathtaking beauty of the Highlands, inviting you to explore the wonders of the surrounding nature. Inside, from the entrance hall to the Eilean Chasgaig Room–a dining room dedicated to Queen Victoria–you’ll feel an atmosphere of serenity and rustic elegance. This impression is enhanced by the patina of the wood-paneled library and the Whisky Bar, which boasts an extraordinary collection of single malts. The hotel’s few rooms and suites, spread across the main house and its former stables, combine traditional decor with touches of originality. At Restaurant 1887, Chef Danny Young serves creative Scottish cuisine that celebrates the richness of local produce and vegetables grown in the kitchen garden, just behind the house.

This 17th century palazzo is inextricably linked to the medieval city of Mdina, its walls forming part of the bastion walls that surround the former capital of Malta, with its remarkable baroque architecture. The Yeatman, located in the heart of Vila Nova de Gaia–the historical headquarters of the Port wine houses–owes its name to a family of British traders who are still active: this legacy is told through the décor of the rooms and a great collection of Portuguese wines. The chef showcases contemporary gastronomy, with food and wine pairing an important part of the dining experience. The final touch is the choice of treatments available at The Yeatman Wine Spa–an oasis of harmony and well-being.

The Restaurant

Troisgros is located in the heart of the countryside, at the foot of a vineyard. It is made up of a farmhouse where guests are received, a kitchen workshop where products are transformed, a restaurant, Le Bois sans Feuilles, were sharing is experienced, and a large Italian-style house, Le Bois Dormant, where relaxation may be had. 
All of these spaces have a modern soul and are surrounded by fields, woods, a lake, garden, and orchard. The taste of César, all guided by the simplicity in cooking, was without a doubt inspired by this new setting.

Le Bois sans Feuilles

In the hinterlands of Verona, above Lake Garda, a private drive lined with cypress trees leads to Villa Cordevigo. This 17th-century country mansion and chapel sit in a dreamlike setting amid the majestic trees of the park, vineyards and a characterful Italian garden. Charm, art and history, the splendid legacies of the noble families who have lived here over the centuries, await guests. Today, the Delibori and Cristoforetti families preserve the property's beauty and natural tranquillity while also producing fine wines on the surrounding estate. The creative energy and Mediterranean roots of Chef Marco Marras is at the heart of the cuisine of Oseleta restaurant, which is located in a picturesque outbuilding at the entrance to the estate.

Just a few steps from Lake Orta, Villa Crespi is a spectacular property built in 1879. The villa’s arabesque architecture, stunning gardens and the hospitality of Chef Antonino Cannavacciuolo and his wife Cinzia make a stay here magical. Antonino’s masterful cuisine is deeply influenced by the places and flavours experienced during his professional journey. His menu is an itinerary from southern to northern Italy, starting with a brochette of scallops and scampi and ending with pigeon and foie gras. From Villa Crespi you can contemplate a magnificent Italy, just 45 minutes away from Milan Malpensa: the medieval village of Orta and the Island of San Giulio, the famous site of Sacro Monte, and the Lake Maggiore.
