Dal Pescatore Santini

Canneto S/O (Mantova) - Italy

Restaurant in the country. When Antonio Santini’s grandparents opened the Pescatore in 1926, it was a small family restaurant. Today it is one of the most renowned restaurants in Italy. Between Cremona and Mantua, in the Parco dell’Oglio nature reserve, family members share the tasks. In the kitchen, Nadia and Giovanni prepare refined, generous cuisine: lobster terrine with caviar or the renowned tortelli di zucca, with butter and Parmigiano Reggiano, a recipe perfected and handed down over three generations. In the dining room, Antonio, Alberto and Valentina create a warm atmosphere and uncork their best bottles – grands crus from France and Italy. ... Learn moreless

Cremona, a Mecca for luthiers

Cremona, a Mecca for luthiers

Cremona is the birthplace of Antonio Giacomo Stradivari, better known as Stradivarius. In his wake, the town has become the capital of luthiers, the birthplace and symbol of the finest violins in the world. Inside their workshops, craftsmen perform the same slow and meticulous movements, upholding a four hundred-year-old tradition of stringed-instrument making. In the evenings, magnificent concerts are held in the theatre.

The wines of Monteforte and Soave

The wines of Monteforte and Soave

The slopes of Monteforte and Soave are home to some beautiful estates and superb vineyards. In Monteforte, Roberto Anselmi’s story is reminiscent of that of many winemakers from the region. A victim of the economic crisis, Roberto’s grandfather was forced to sell his vineyard. His father was a winemaker without his own land, and he swore that he would buy back the estate that had been lost. Today, Roberto cultivates 70 hectares of land and produces white wines which are as delicate as they are elegant. In nearby Soave, pay a visit to the estate of the Pieropan family, who have also been producing magnificent wines for four generations. Wines from these two estates can be found on the menu at Dal Pescatore Santini.

Villa Cordevigo Wine Relais

Cavaion Veronese - Lake Garda - Italy

Hotel and restaurant in the country. In the hinterlands of Verona, above Lake Garda, a private drive lined with cypress trees leads to Villa Cordevigo. This 17th-century country mansion and chapel sit in a dreamlike setting amid the majestic trees of the park, vineyards and a characterful Italian garden. Charm, art and history, the splendid legacies of the noble families who have lived here over the centuries, await guests. Today, the Delibori and Cristoforetti families preserve the property's beauty and natural tranquillity while also producing fine wines on the surrounding estate. As for the cuisine, chef Giuseppe D'Aquino's creativity and Mediterranean energy has garnered a Michelin star for Oseleta, the restaurant located in a picturesque building at the entrance of the grounds. ... Villa Abbazia

Follina - Italy

Hotel and restaurant in a village. The subtle charms of this 17th century palazzo and a Liberty-style villa will capture your heart. Romantic and intimate, this charming structure in the Venetian countryside is in a unique location at the crossroads of numerous Unesco treasures. At the juncture of the rose-coloured peaks of the Dolomites and Cortina, their pearl, the villas of Palladio, the Prosecco vineyards and near the fortified city of Treviso, known as the Gardens of Venice, there is plenty to see. Follina is the ideal starting point for visits to the most beautiful towns in Venetia and for active holidays. ... Learn moreless

Asolo Golf Club

Asolo Golf Club

Owned by the Benetton family since 1995, this very fine golf club has two courses (one 18-hole, par-72 course, and one 9-hole, par-36 course). Its fairways hug the landscape, between hills scattered with woods and the vineyards of Valdobbiadene. A few kilometres away, you will find two more beautiful courses at the Ca’Amata Golf Club in Castelfranco (18 holes, par 71) and at the Villa Condulmer Golf Club in Modigliano (18 holes, par 71).

Villa di Maser, Maser

Villa di Maser, Maser

Recognised as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, this villa is one of the masterpieces of the architect Andrea Palladio and of the famous painter of the Venetian School, Paolo Veronese. Built during the 1560s for Venetian nobles, it remains a perfect example of the Italian Renaissance. Today, visitors can still observe the harmony between the buildings and the surrounding environment. Around the villa with its splendid rooms, there is nothing but vines, olive trees, rose bushes and wisteria…

Prosecco white wines

Prosecco white wines

In Venice, this dry and sparking white wine is what we drink as an aperitif. It’s like our answer to Champagne. We drink it straight up, in cocktails or in kirs. What visitor to Venice has never tried a Spritz, the famous mixture of Prosecco, Campari and Aperol? Of the various estates open to visitors, I recommend the cellars of Nino Franco Spumanti in Valdobbiadene, and the Follador Estate in Col San Partino. Not to be missed… but remember to drink in moderation!

Relais & Châteaux Agli Amici Dal 1887, Udine

Relais & Châteaux Agli Amici Dal 1887, Udine

The date says almost everything about this historical establishment. A former café-tabaconnist that was founded by the Scarello family, it has become a gastronomic restaurant renowned throughout the entire country. The restaurant of Grand Chef Emanuele became a member of the Relais & Châteaux in 2014. Filled with creativity, his cuisine today honors Friuli products with special attention to fish dishes. At his side, Michela envisioned a menu of wines bursting with beautiful surprises that showcase small wine-growers and local vineyards that are not widely known.

Hôtel Londra Palace

Venezia - Italy

Hotel and restaurant on the lagoon. This historic hotel prides itself on having, over its life of 150 years, received artists and celebrities such as Tchaikovsky, D'Annunzio and Borges, who were captivated by the Londra Palace and its dream location. Piazza San Marco is a stone’s throw away, as are the vaporetti and gondolas to explore the canals. One hundred windows look out over the San Marco Basin and the Lagoon, however the views over the roofs and church towers from the other side of the building are no less beautiful. Biedermeier-style furniture, tapestries and brocades adorn the elegantly decorated rooms, and the restaurant adds a creative touch to the great classic dishes of Venetian cuisine. ... Learn moreless

Hotel Villa Franceschi

Mira - Italy

Hotel and restaurant on a river. The majestic waters of the River Brenta, next to the lagoon of Venice, wind their way between the Palladian villas, once a favourite haunt of the aristocracy. Amongst these, Villa Franceschi, the former residence of the Doge’s jewellers, stands in a bend in the river in all its splendour, within acres of forested parkland. According to tradition, balconies and terraces face the river and this is true of the restaurant which serves delicious Venetian cuisine ‘al fresco’. The guestrooms still boast marble fireplaces and terracotta floor tiles, the ceilings have retained their original wooden beams, and chandeliers and silks handcrafted by artisans in Venice lend a delightful finishing touch. ...
