Listed since 2000 as a continuing cultural landscape on the UNESCO World Heritage List, the Loire Valley has some of the most beautiful castles in the world stretched out along its river. An epicenter of art and history, the region is glorified by the intricate styles and silhouettes of Chambord, Chenonceau, Cheverny, Azay-le-Rideau, and many others. Everything here seems dedicated to refined elegance, from the gardens of Villandry to the prestigious setting of the Cadre Noir. A journey into both elegance and time.

Château de Cheverny

Château de Cheverny

This was the inspiration for the famous Marlinspike Hall in The Adventures of Tintin. The estate has belonged to the same family for over six centuries. At certain times, the Orangerie hosts charming exhibitions as well as sales of old masters.

Navigate under Chenonceau

Navigate under Chenonceau

What could be nicer, in summer, than renting a small boat and drifting down the Cher under the splendid Château de Chenonceau? This might be the most pleasant way to discover this masterpiece, built on the water in 1513. You can escape from the crowds and get up close with its history.

The pagoda of Chanteloup, the folly of the Duke of Choiseul (Amboise)

The pagoda of Chanteloup, the folly of the Duke of Choiseul (Amboise)

Exiled on his own property, the Duke of Choiseul had a surprising Chinese-inspired pagoda built between 1775 and 1778. It must be said that the former head of Louis XV's government wanted to transform his property in Amboise into a renowned intellectual and artistic site. Although the palace was demolished in the 19th century, the pagoda was spared. It still offers from its summit a unique view of the Loire Valley, the city of Amboise, and the forest of the same name.

Bar-net fishing

Bar-net fishing

With a doctorate in the ecology of migratory fish, Philippe Boisneau is one of the few remaining fishermen who use the bar-net fishing method on the Loire. Between March and May, he mainly catches shads. Once the net is stretched out, it blocks nearly three-quarters of the Loire. You can see him at work from the riverbank between Onzain and Amboise. If you bump into him, he is a fascinating man!
