Built in 1920 in Wingen-sur-Moder in the Bas-Rhin by René Lalique, the great art nouveau jeweller and celebrated master of art deco glass, the Villa René Lalique - Hôtel & Restaurant is now an exceptional hotel and refined restaurant — a living and vibrant tribute to its creator. Nestled within the heart of the Northern Vosges Regional Natural Park, the six exclusive suites, each inspired by an original design by the avant-garde artist, tell the story of a name that has become the crowning jewel of the French crystal industry. Within the gourmet restaurant’s large glass-walled dining room, Austrian Chef Paul Stradner works with his team to prepare intense and highly colorful creative cuisine. He's joined by pastry chef Jonathan Bunel, who draws inspiration from French tradition and modern influences for his sweet creations, and Alsatian head sommelier Romain Iltis, who oversees Villa René Lalique - Hôtel & Restaurant’s exceptional cellar, one of the finest in Europe, with no fewer than 60,000 bottles. Hervé Schmitt, the restaurant’s manager, directs the Lalique’s table service and setting like a ballet.

In the designers’ studio

The Villa, built by René Lalique in 1920, represents the creative genius perfectly. Today it offers six exclusive suites and a refined restaurant that were designed by Lady Tina Green and Pietro Mingarelli and evoke the genius of René Lalique down to the smallest detail. Each Art Deco-inspired suite is different and bears the name of an iconic design. Every bed frame, sideboard, bedside table, sofa and mirror is decorated with crystal, showcasing Lalique's expertise!

Craftsmanship and Tradition

In 1921, René Lalique chose to found the Lalique factory in Wingen-sur-Moder, which is why he also built the Villa there. All pieces are still produced here today, in Lalique's only factory, before being sent all over the world. The factory is not open to the public, so to understand who René Lalique was and what he brought to the brand, we suggest our customers visit the Lalique Museum, situated just a few kilometres from our property. It is a wonderful opportunity to discover original creations from the master glassmaker and the exceptional work done in the factory today. Not to be missed
