Charming and tranquil, this top culinary destination is surrounded by Loire châteaux and the vineyards of Sancerre and Pouilly. Experience the rare pleasure of sleeping under a thatched roof, and allow yourself to be seduced by the cuisine of the chef in the restaurant, looking out on century-old oak trees. On the menu is a magical ravioli of wild mushrooms and velouté with a truffle jus, and John Dory in a La Ratte potato crust and sweet red onion sauce. Gien Faïencerie: two centuries of ceramics expertise

Not far from Auberge des Templiers is one of Europe's most celebrated ceramicists, the Gien Faïencerie. Renowned for its bespoke designs, intricate concepts and, not least, the distinctive tiles used on the Paris Metro since 1930, the factory continues to showcase its brand of exceptional craftsmanship, originally conceived by its English founder, Thomas Hall, in 1820.

Known colloquially as the ‘Château des Pêcheurs,’ or Fishermen's Chateau, the property is home to a singular collection of fishing- and fish-related art, as well as the preserved remains of a prehistoric fish, the coelacanth. This magnificent property, acquired by the de Chasseval family in the 1960s, offers the chance to play giant wooden games, explore the vegetable garden (during warmer months), follow the treehouse treasure trail or take a boat ride on the lake, as well as explore the chateau’s 10 rooms.
