Redbreast

Redbreast

Redbreast, a world-renowned, award-winning Single Pot Still Irish Whiskey. A warm, complex, and layered spirit, its origins date back to 1912, bringing forgotten traditions of Single Pot Still whiskey into the modern era.

Unlike most of its contemporary spirits, Redbreast survived American Prohibition and became one of the only Irish whiskeys to continue to use Single Pot Still distillation. Created from a mash of malted and unmalted barley, and triple-distilled in copper pot stills, this whiskey-making method is quintessentially Irish and unique to Redbreast. It imparts a rich, silky texture to the spirit, elevated by the recognizable character of the pot still. For over a century, Redbreast has remained true to this whiskey-making tradition–a living legacy, safeguarded and nurtured by the master blenders at the Midleton Distillery for nearly 200 years.

Focused on extended maturation periods, from 12 to 27 years depending on the product, Redbreast is aged in a combination of bourbon and sherry casks. The bourbon casks are made of American white oak, sourced from Kentucky, and help to draw out the sweet, spiced, vanilla flavors created in the pot still. The sherry casks come from Jerez de la Frontera, Spain, and impart Redbreast’s characteristic flavors, for a smooth yet complex tasting experience. It is the artistry and finesse of Master Blender, David McCabe, who blends complex cask flavors to create Redbreast’s signature taste profile. We have helped preserve the legacy of this renowned style, to introduce a new generation to its nuances and depth.
