Relais & Châteaux, Monkey 47, Código 1530 and Redbreast join forces to present the 2026 Cocktail Trophy to Gerges Meshmesh for his remarkable creation, the Agouri Sour. For the “Timeless Twists: A Reimagined Classic Cocktail Competition”, Gerges—Bar Manager at La Maison Bleue in El Gouna, on the Red Sea—revisited the Gin Sour using agouri cucumber, a native Egyptian variety that lends its name to the cocktail. Grown in the estate’s own greenhouse, this small, crunchy cucumber brings the beverage a subtle bitterness that perfectly complements the botanical notes of Monkey 47 gin. The cocktail celebrates timelessness, sustainability, and local culture in every way.

La Maison Bleue stretches out grandly alongside a private lagoon, a stone’s throw from the blue waters of the Red Sea. Set just outside El Gouna, a lively Egyptian seaside resort, the property was originally designed as a mansion for an investor wanting to host his family and friends in Middle-Eastern splendor. Now a boutique hotel, an adults-only establishment unlike any other in the region, this residence with architecture inspired by Italy and North Africa features colonnades, marble, coffered ceilings, and frescoes. The immense suites, facing the mountains of the Western Desert, are brimming with sumptuous silks, venerable furnishings, and a remarkable collection of antiques and objets d’art. In the restaurant, French chef Vincent Guillou crafts cuisine from market and garden ingredients to showcase the flavors of Europe and Egypt. La Maison Bleue provides a serene sanctuary for relaxing on the lagoon’s sandy beach, beside the swimming pool, or in the spa. ... Learn moreless
