Copenhagen to Als - the “garden of Denmark”

Denmark is particularly influential in the sphere of cutting-edge design and architecture. Copenhagen is home to some masterpieces of contemporary architecture, including BLOX, designed by Rem Koolhaas of the OMA agency. This fertile, silt-covered land created during the last ice age is now a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

The children's author was born in Odense in the early 19th century. The whole city – traffic lights included – pays tribute to him and his fairy tales. One of five sites about his life, here you can see his famous paper cuts, a library of his work translated into 150 languages, as well as manuscripts. The personal belongings on display in a memorial space promise to transport you into the most intimate world of the writer.

Founded in the 13th century, this port city boasted the largest fleet of fishing boats in the country five centuries later. The cobblestone streets lined with half-timbered houses and the 15th century bell tower, vestiges of this prosperous period, give the town its charm. Visit the museum dedicated to the Funen painters' collective established in the early 20th century.
