20-acre urban oasis17th-century mansionTimeless grandeurGateway to Scotland

Prestonfield House, with its towering Georgian façade, stands regally on a 20-acre estate shaded by ancient trees, land where a few Highland cows graze peacefully, yet all just minutes from downtown Edinburgh. This authentic Scottish manor is an urban oasis, a 17th-century residence that has had only three owner families in the more than three centuries it has stood on this site. Today, it belongs to James Thomson, who has lovingly preserved the property’s treasures: the ornate Cordoba leather panels, Mortlake tapestries, antique silks and velvets, artwork, fireplaces, period furniture, and other gracious details. As the ideal place to experience your first taste of the true Scotland, Prestonfield House offers the splendor of tradition with the warmth of a genuine Scottish welcome. While soaking up the sumptuous ambiance, enjoy the must-be-tasted afternoon tea, the treasures of the wine cellar, a fine collection of malt whiskies, and farm-to-table cuisine at the Rhubarb Restaurant.
