"I grew up in the San Francisco, California area, in a somewhat urban setting. When I was younger, I dreamed of working as a ranger in the forest, but since Stanford University did not offer any nature-oriented qualifications, I chose to become an engineer, earning a PhD in materials science. I worked for thirty-five years at Intel Corporation, the leading global maker of semiconductors. I joined the company as an engineer and worked my way through the ranks, finally becoming the company's President, CEO and Chairman. Today, my friends make fun of me when I tell them how much fun it is to live in an area without network coverage, in the heart of the mountains on the United States Continental Divide. Away from technology, I indulge in skiing, hiking, horseback riding, dog sledding, hunting and fly fishing. Being able to live in Montana, the "Treasure State" is a dream come true."
