The Wickaninnish Inn stands on an outcrop between the Pacific Ocean, Chesterman Beach and a forest of giant evergreens. Artists, including renowned wood carver Henry Nolla, designed elements of its two buildings with the aim of blending art, nature and culture. You can even meet local artists at the onsite carving shed. Each room has a fireplace and picture window offering views of the coastline. Set off on a day of sea kayaking, or to see whales, sea lions or bears around Clayoquot Sound. Relax with a soothing spa treatment after your day's adventures. Nestled among the bucolic valleys and pristine lakes of the Litchfield Hills, Winvian is a unique hotel complex with 45 hectares of lush grounds bordered by centuries-old maple trees. A team of 15 architects designed the 18 original chalets and one suite, each with its own special design and atmosphere. This fine early 20th-century mansion on the banks of Lake Annecy is a rhapsody of blue and gold: the blue of the façade and the lake viewed from the terrace meets the golden yellow of the wood cladding the walls and the sun that shines into the guestrooms through the large picture windows.
