Thank you for your patience...
The castle's basement houses the ancient wine cellars, where Empress Eugénie and Napoleon III stored their best wines, and where you can now enjoy small tastings of Txakoli, a typical white wine of the region.
5 km from the Castillo, in the municipality of Kortezubi, you will discover the famous forest of Oma and its painted trees. Created by the Bilbao painter and sculptor Agustín Ibarrola, this enchanting wood is a magical place that presents a new relationship between art and nature. From certain angles, the trees and stones painted by the artist reveal hidden figures which appear to move.
You can visit the Guggenheim Museum in Bilbao, 40 kilometres from the Castillo. The Guggenheim is a contemporary art museum designed by Canadian architect Frank O. Gehry. It belongs to the Solomon R. Guggenheim Foundation.
