Lenk village

Lenk village

At an elevation of 1,068m, the tiny village of Lenk looks out onto the impressive Wildstrubel mountain range. A spa resort and also the starting point for a very great many options for hiking (in winter, this site is extremely popular for cross-country skiing and snowshoeing). The village is famous for its Alpine festival, as well as for its farmers' market in the Boltigen municipality. The descent of the cattle from the high alpine pastures to St Stephan village is another big event for local families in the region.

With goats, another way to hike

With goats, another way to hike

To walk the paths of the Gilbach in the Bernese Alps is a hike with a difference: Sabina Bircher offers walkers the chance to experience the jawdropping Hahnenmoos pass in the company of her shaggy goats, recognizable by their long soft hair. This is an opportunity to change pace and understand the daily life of those who live in these mountains. Ideal for all levels of experience, including children, hiking routes can vary according to the profile of the walkers.

The Tropical House of Frutigen, an oasis in the heart of the Alps

A singular place, the Tropical House of Frutigen feels like something of an oasis in the heart of the Alps. This modern aquaculture center specializes in the breeding of freshwater fish and the unexpected production of caviar and other sturgeon products. Thanks to its superb adjoining garden, it is also a place of horticultural experimentation where tropical plants and fruits thrive. Visitors are invited to discover and taste everything.
