The Three Sisters Hotel

Tallinn - Estonia

Hotel and restaurant in town. This sophisticated hotel, ideally located next to Saint-Olaf’s church, right in the heart of a city that combines medieval charm with hectic modern living, enjoys a tranquil setting in the old town. The Three Sisters Hotel is a remarkable combination of three merchant houses built in 1362, with passages and secret stairways that link the different floors. The contemporary décor is the perfect foil for magnificently-restored period features, such as the ceiling frescoes rediscovered under 14 layers of wallpaper and the wooden crane used to hoist supplies into the house. Restaurant Bordoo is the perfect place for a late breakfast, a leisurely lunch or a gourmet dinner. ... Learn moreless

Tallinn Old Town

Tallinn Old Town

You only have to leave the hotel to discover the architectural treasures of Tallinn's old town. The medieval city, which has also been declared a UNESCO World Heritage site, will take you back to the 15th century! With the paved streets, bell towers hanseatic houses, aristocratic residences and extensive ramparts, time seems to have no hold over the city. Go and visit the City Hall square, put your map in your pocket and set off without looking back…

Muhu Island

Muhu Island

Not as popular as the large island of Saaremaa, the small island of Muhu can be reached within half an hour by boat. Small sandy beaches, fishing villages and windmills will provide the ideal setting for those who know how to take their time. Don't miss the church of Sainte-Catherine at Liiva, one of the oldest in the country. The island has played host to a high quality summer jazz festival since 1997…

House of the Blackheads, Riga

House of the Blackheads, Riga

With its bricks and stones, it is one of the most famous façades in the city. The House of the Blackheads is a unique institution in Riga. Built in the 14th century by the Great Guild, the house became the property of an important association of single merchants (the famous Blackheads). As a hall for parties, balls and concerts, it hosted Wagner, Liszt and even Berlioz. The house was devastated during a bombing raid in 1941 and was rebuilt exactly as it was before in the 1990s.

Riga's Art Nouveau

Riga's Art Nouveau

"The general consensus is that the finest concentration of Art Nouveau buildings in Europe is to be found in Riga": These were the words used by UNESCO historians when they added the historical centre of the city to the World Heritage List. Art Nouveau established itself in Riga at the very beginning of the 20th century. The whole city seems to have adopted the movement since then, be it in architecture, interior design, furniture and even clothing fashions! Even today, there are around fifty Art Nouveau buildings in the heart of the medieval city and over three hundred in the rest of the conurbation.

Museum of Fine Arts, Riga

Museum of Fine Arts, Riga

The ideal place for all art lovers! Recently opened in one of the city's historic buildings, this museum exhibits an extensive collection of work by Latvian artists from the mid 19th century to the present day (Janis Rozentals, Janis Valters, Uga Skulme, etc.). Another part of the museum is devoted to Russian painters.

Stikliai Hotel

Vilnius - Lithuania

Hotel and restaurant in town. The ancient city of Vilnius is a Unesco World Heritage site and had a profound influence on the cultural and architectural development of a large part of Europe. Despite the invasions and destruction that it suffered in its history, it still has many renaissance, gothic, baroque and classical architectural gems. “Stikliai” is Lithuanian for glass blowers and this hotel is ideally situated in the trade quarter, where, from the 17th to the 19th centuries, glass blowers had their workshops. Today, the Stikliai Hotel is a delightful little house, with a winter garden. The attentive staff will leave you with a lasting memory of a warm and welcoming Lithuania. ... Learn moreless

Europos Parkas

Europos Parkas

Located exactly seventeen kilometres from the geographical centre of Europe, this vast 55-hectare park has about a hundred monumental contemporary sculptures. The park was envisioned as early as 1991 by the Lithuanian sculptor Gintaras Karosas and is home to a work composed of 3,000 television sets! Leading artists such as Magdalena Abakanowicz (Space of Unknown Growth), Sol LeWitt (Double Negative Pyramid) and Dennis Oppenheim (Chair/Pool) present certain sculptures in the heart of the forest.

Uzupis District, Vilnius

Uzupis District, Vilnius

Few people are aware that the historical centre of Vilnius is classified as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Despite a series of destructions, a number of the historical buildings have retained their Gothic and Baroque style. On the other side of the river, the Uzupis district has retained a bohemian atmosphere which is a delight for artists in the city. Workshops, galleries, squats, and concerts punctuate the daily life in this district that was raised in a "republic". A big party is held to mark the anniversary of its own constitution on 1 April each year!

A journey to the centre of Europe

A journey to the centre of Europe

54° 54’N 25° 19’E. These are the precise coordinates of the geographic centre of Europe (other sites also claim this title in Austria, Germany, Norway and Poland). This rather stark point is marked by a granite obelisk decorated with stars and the flag of every EU member country and is located only 25 km north of Vilnius. We can even give you a certificate at its symbolic crossing point!
