Discover the surprising cheeses of Gouda. They enjoy an unparalleled reputation, and nowhere else in the world will you find better cheeses to taste and buy. Every Thursday in the summer, the historic town of Gouda hosts a market where the cheese is weighed, as it was traditionally done in the iconic Waag house. You'll have the opportunity to taste many varieties, determine your preferences, and even learn about the history of this delicious food by visiting the interactive Gouda Cheese Experience Museum, housed in a monumental yellow building.

Restaurant LIZZ stands for garden-fresh, light, seasonal and sustainable cuisine. The chef's love for healthy food is reflected in incredible vegetarian options on each menu. He carefully selects only the best ingredients, ideally from local suppliers and producers. All are harvested at the perfect moment and used in an exploratory way  authentic but always with a modern twist - taking into account the local setting of Weeshuis Gouda and its historical references. Due to its location, Gouda is ideal for visiting exciting cities such as Utrecht, Amsterdam, Den Haag, and Rotterdam. In the capital, discover artistic masterpieces, the Night Watch sculptures at Rembrandtplein, centuries-old Dutch windmills, colorful tulip fields, cutting-edge designs, and an amazing nightlife. In Utrecht, you will be enchanted by one of the most famous churches in the Netherlands, the Dom. Visit The Hague, the political capital of the country and birthplace of the royal family, before taking a break on the large sandy beach. Or go for a walk in Rotterdam, the most urban city in the Netherlands, which boasts modern architecture and impressive buildings. Gouda and its perfect geographic location

The hotel's team invites you to discover Plateel, plaster molds designed to make decorative pottery. Hand-painted with gloss and matte glazes, they first appeared some time around the end of the 19th century and the beginning of the 20th century. Reflecting the spirit of Gouda, this delightful Dutch city, they are also emblematic of the hotel. Along with the wonderfully inspiring natural light that graces the Weeshuis Gouda building, Plateel is a key element used in the graphic and interior design of the premises, which aims to reinterpret colors and motifs in a contemporary manner. During this engaging journey of discovery, you'll be left fascinated by the floral-themed paintings and designs, the expressive use of color, and the many other aesthetically beautiful objects interspersed throughout this enchanting hotel. The experience wouldn't be complete, however, without a visit to the workshop of Trudy Otterspeer, which is located just a few steps from the hotel. She will be delighted to show you her traditionally painted artwork. Thanks to her, the Plateel style, designs, and motif were placed on the Intangible Cultural Heritage list in accordance with the UNESCO treaty in 2014.
