tropical oasis in the heart of the city19th century hospice10-acre wildlife sanctuary

Imagine a veritable time capsule hidden away from the hustle and bustle of the great Pacific port of Guayaquil. In the 1980s, historic buildings threatened with destruction were moved, rebuilt and renovated plank-by-plank on the banks of the Daule. Hotel del Parque was one of these buildings. Today, you can discover it standing elegantly, wrapped in the tropical bosom of a vast botanical garden. Sitting on the waterfront, the hotel’s restaurant, Casa Julián, specialises in the finest seafood and freshest fish. Having embraced the local culinary tradition of soups and stews, its chef is also known to skilfully play with the flavours and textures of avocado, banana and cocoa.

Coffee Roasting

Coffee was introduced in Ecuador in the middle of the 19th century. Nowadays Ecuador is well known for growing specialty beans that make flavorful coffee. Our chef will introduce you to the plant, the process and the art of roasting coffee. You can try your hand at roasting, and take home a pound of your exclusive wares.

Chocolate tasting

Ecuador is home to the world's finest cacao bean, so it behooves us to offer a chocolate-tasting experience with our culinary team in the grounds of the park! With a 120-year-old landowner's house as the setting, guests can seek out and pick their own cacao pods, and watch as their beans are transformed into artisanal chocolate using traditional methods. Of course, taking the end product home is fundamental to the experience. We present different types of national chocolates and we explain their flavors and textures, tasting it accompanied with a sparkling wine or an Ecuadorian fruit infusion.
