Schokland, a UNESCO World Heritage Site

Schokland, a UNESCO World Heritage Site

Schokland, once an island, is now part of the municipality of Noordoostpolder. The former island symbolizes the age-old, heroic struggle of the Dutch against the water. On Schokland and in the immediate vicinity there are traces of human habitation that date back to prehistoric times. Schokland is a unique combination of cultural history and nature that is rich in archeological mineral resources. Schokland became a UNESCO World Heritage site in 1995.

In the heart of the park, the splendid Kröller-Müller Museum is home to the second-largest collection of works by Van Gogh in the world. Some 90 paintings and more than 180 drawings by the artist are displayed alongside paintings by Monet, Seurat, Picasso, and Mondrian. About 160 sculptures are also scattered throughout the park.

Maastricht, its parks and gardens

Maastricht, its parks and gardens

No visit to the Netherlands would be complete without taking a stroll through Maastricht. In this country of such low elevation, the hills here feel almost mountainous, and in the city that gave its name to the most famous of modern European treaties, a bucolic vibe often emerges. Whether in the shadow of its ancient ramparts, along the banks of the Meuse, in the lush gardens of Buitengoed Vaeshartelt or in the parks of Aldenhof and Sint-Pietersberg, nature is an integral part of the scenery.

Restaurant Da Vinci

My goal is to grow every day in my creative process. I work towards this by offering the same quality to everyone every day, and then fine-tuning it repeatedly. My inspiration comes from all kinds of things around me. I’m also proud of what the region and, more specifically, Limburg has to offer. The fabulous products from our suppliers, such as asparagus, and Limburg wines, challenge me to create new dishes and combinations.
