A less-explored safari paradise, Botswana is a dream-like destination for fans of wide-open spaces. On your way from the Okavango Delta to the semi-arid Kalahari region, you’ll encounter the ‘Big Five’ in total tranquility. Away from the frenzy of the outside world, your journey reflects the pace of nature–wild and exhilarating. You’ll then continue on to the southern tip of South Africa, via the gentle rolling hills of Stellenbosch, with its superb vineyards, which lead on all the way to Table Mountain National Park.

Delving into the Selinda Reserve

Delving into the Selinda Reserve

With its plains, rivers, and extensive marshes, you can clearly see that Africa has generously bestowed its beauty upon the Selinda Reserve. Known as the kingdom of the elephants (up to 9,000 of them during the dry season) and connected to the Okavango Delta, this vast sanctuary is a gathering place for lions, antelopes, leopards, giraffes, buffalo, and wild dogs. It's reminiscent of “Out of Africa” …

Crossing the Okavango Delta

Crossing the Okavango Delta

There are numerous ways to explore the floodplains and channels of the Okavango Delta: including via mokoro–traditional dugout canoe propelled slowly by a long wooden pole–or in small motorboats that speed across the waters. Whichever one you choose, you’ll witness the unique ballet of 200 species of birds and enjoy impromptu encounters with elephants, hippos and the other large animals that inhabit the region.

On the trail of sitatungas in the Okavango Delta

The island feels like a lost world where sitatungas thrive–these rare, semi-aquatic antelopes lend the lodge its name. Here in the heart of the Okavango Delta, its wetlands teem with wildlife, where every creature plays a role in an ecosystem largely untouched by humanity. Boat trips allow you to encounter these elegant antelopes, as well as crocodiles, hippos and elephants besides.
