Susana Balbo, Argentina’s first female winemaker, has been crafting wines for more than a quarter century in her bodega in Agrelo, a renowned wine-growing region just 25 minutes from Chacras de Coria. Here is in this small village just outside Mendoza, with her daughter Ana, she established Susana Balbo Winemaker’s House & Spa Suites. At this lovely historic residence, its walls graced with works by local artists, the verdant grounds are home to seven suites decorated with textiles in neutral hues, each with its own private garden. Each one is a relaxing, intimate paradise with a large bathtub, sensory shower, sauna, and massage table. Experiences at Susana Balbo Winemaker’s House & Spa Suites focus primarily on the world of wine (tastings, introduction to wine production, etc.). Naturally, food and wine pairings are a consummate service feature at the exclusive La Vida restaurant, which brings a unique perspective to traditional local cuisine.
