Exploring Ice Caves

Our guide, Alessandro, invites you to explore the glacier caves of Saas-Fee. In these uniquely preserved places, located 11,500 feet (3,500 metres) above sea level, discover a world of ice dating back 2000 years. In the vast Allalin cave, stroll through the heart of a fascinating universe that mixes mysticism, fairy tales, legends and a profound sense of wonder.

Meeting marmots

In winter, Saas-Fee marmots hibernate in their burrows for six to eight months. But from mid-April, these adorable balls of fur emerge once again–and by following the paths of Spielboden or Stafelwald, you have a chance of meeting them. During family getaways, children can distribute carrots and peanuts to these curious creatures, who look forward to your visit.

The virtues of the hay flower

At the Walliserhof Hotel Spa, enjoy a hay flower body wrap. Composed of a mélange of aromatic plants, it is considered beneficial for health and helps fight against stress, fatigue, aches and pains. Lie down to be enveloped in evening primrose oil treatment cream. Then, let the scents of herbs harvested at altitude allow you to slip into another dimension–feel yourself transported to a flowering meadow in the middle of the mountains.
