Italian splendor30-acre urban oasisLuxuriant grounds100-foot pool

Set within the walls of a former residential villa, Borgo Pignano Florence spans thirty acres of landscaped gardens on the Montughi hill north of the Tuscan capital. The owners have completely renovated the property, transforming what was once simply a lovely private residence into a high-end establishment. The sculpted colonnades, vaulted ceilings, and imposing monumental stone staircase have been admirably preserved. Large bay windows in the rooms and suites frame views of the property’s garden of earthly delights and the vast heated swimming pool. Though just minutes from Florence’s historic center, Borgo Pignano Florence is an oasis of peace and quiet with two superb restaurants: Essenza, the gourmet establishment, and Cedrus, a garden dining option open in the summer with a relaxed, friendly atmosphere.

Activities, excursions and other attractions during your stay at Borgo Pignano Florence Hotel

The best of Tuscany

Since the Renaissance, Florence has distinguished itself through the quality of its artisanship and remains home to some of Italy’s most renowned luxury brands. This exploration of Florentine fashion and style leads along the famous Via Tornabuoni, followed by visits to the Ferragamo Museum and the Museum of Costume and Fashion at Pitti Palace.

Meet Florentine artisans

This bespoke program, planned around guests’ personal interests, offers the chance to meet some of Florence’s authentic master artisans–heirs to centuries-old traditions–including leatherworkers, shoemakers, tailors, woodcarvers, goldsmiths, silversmiths, ceramicists and jewelry makers.

The art of calligraphy

Calligraphy transforms simple letters into refined works of art. This workshop, led by master calligrapher Caterina Scardillo, offers the chance to learn the fundamentals of elegant script and to compose elaborate lettering based on botanical or historical themes.

Explore Florentine jewelry making

Learn to appreciate the jeweler’s craft with an experienced designer, create a silver ring of your own and learn to identify jewelry motifs depicted in Renaissance artwork. The experience includes entry to the renowned museum Opificio delle Pietre Dure and a visit to the workshops of designer Paolo Penko.

An introduction to wine painting

Using wine as an alternative to traditional pigments is a highly original artistic technique. Wine oxidizes quickly upon contact with air and paper, producing varied, nuanced shades that results in artworks that have a unique character, with colors that evolve over time–just like wine.
