Carved into the solid white cliffs of Santorini, the largest island on the Greek archipelago of the same name, Sun Rocks is a boutique hotel that provides an intimate hideaway.
Yet for all its hiddenness and exclusivity, the hotel trains a wide network of young professionals, who help deliver Sun Rock’s exemplary service. A carefully crafted program provides young people with well-designed, real-world experience—matched to their needs and aspirations. Carefully selected on the basis of aspiration, the program offers interns the opportunity to select one of three main functional areas: operations (food, beverages, and rooms), non-operations (human resources, finance, catering, sales, and marketing), or specialized (culinary and spa). Internships typically last six months—long-enough to gain real experience and develop transferable skills. Culinary positions use mentors to accelerate development in fine dining; spa and wellness trainees get involved in developing the spa’s menus and products; and operations interns are also exposed to back-office activities such as reporting and cross checking suppliers.
