Chef Johann Lafer, one of Germany's most famous chefs, endorses the philosophy of the romantic Stromburg: highest demands on quality. The best products are creatively prepared. This is embodied by the restaurant Le Val d’Or, which is artfully transformed during each season in optical, acoustic and culinary terms. “I draw my inspiration from the ingredients themselves”, the exceptionally gifted pastry chef stresses. Johann Lafer devotes the same commitment to his interpretation of sachertorte as he does to braised and roasted kid with Italian artichokes. Helicopter flights over the vineyards and forests of the Rhine appeal to all the senses. Hotel is exceptionally closed until September 30th, 2017 due to renovation.

When taste awareness and sustainable development go back to school.

Everyday at lunchtime, the same show: a team from the property takes over the local school canteen and serves 700 children and teachers a three-choice menu made from fresh local, organic products. The Chef also provides the pupils with places in workshops, and internships; an opportunity for this chef, used to television appearances, to raise children’s awareness of taste and the environment. The restaurant works with a number of local producers, and suggests ideas to extend their production to include forgotten vegetables, heritage varieties, and new breeds of chicken, always with the goal of preserving biodiversity.
