While travelling through the region on a humanitarian mission in 2001, philanthropists Lee and Penny Anderson found their way to the Croatian city of Orebić. It was love at first sight — a place where they could bring together both their passion for wine and their admiration for exquisite Dalmatian hospitality.

Standing proudly like an oppidum atop a hill, Villa Korta Katarina rises above the Adriatic and surrounding vineyards with undeniable majesty. Its rooms and suites, each boasting sea views, offer modernity in a setting of classical elegance. With a soothing palette of pale blue, grey, white and cream, their decor is a reflection of the fascinating Pelješac Peninsula and its skies of enchanting pastel hues.

In this blue paradise, the tranquility is disturbed only by the sound of waves carried from the Anse de la Garoupe below–the cove can easily be reached via a short private path. Amid this unique landscape of umbrella pines and ochre rocks–scenery that inspired artists including Nicolas de Staël and Pablo Picasso–stands a large, beautiful mansion: Villa Miraé. Its guest rooms, adorned with natural materials and a palette of yellow, green or blue, evoke the surroundings. Each one features a terrace or balcony that opens onto the lush Mediterranean garden, where a swimming pool is nestled within. In the summer, the private sundeck on the beach, lined with succulents and laurel, epitomizes this oasis of coolness and calm. At the foot of the Old City of Luxembourg, encircled by grounds more than a century old crafted by celebrated landscape designer Edouard André, Villa Pétrusse has made its home in a private residence, an architectural jewel that is emblematic of the city’s late-19th-century transformation. Travel back in time in the refined elegance and old-world charm of a property that exudes the subtle, unostentatious warmth of a well-appointed family home inhabited by discerning art lovers. The room décor includes reproductions of watercolors by illustrious Luxembourgish painter Sosthène Weis; all have a breathtaking view of the grounds and the adjacent Pétrusse, the river for which the hotel is named.
