Il Luogo Aimo e Nadia was opened more than 50 years ago by Aimo and Nadia, partners in life and work, and is famous for both its cuisine and for its setting, an artistic and architectural project with Paolo Ferrari, in which performances combine culinary art, theatre and fine art. Their daughter Stefania is now at the helm of Il Luogo, alongside the Chefs Fabio Pisani and Alessandro Negrini, who produce a creative cuisine: their style reveals unsuspected flavours. Their dishes are the fruit of both traditional and contemporary techniques, and give perfect expression to the complex culinary heritage bequeathed by the culture and nature of Italy.

This hotel is the dream child of Carlino Cinque, who was passionately in love with this place and commissioned a villa on a promontory with breathtaking views of Praiano, Positano, the coast and the rocks of Capri. In the course of time, this dream grew, as did the hotel. Its many rooms have each a private terrace and a wonderful sea view. The interior details include fine terracotta floors with ceramic decoration and doors adorned with frescoes. An elevator built into the rocks leads down to a private beach and to the Carlino restaurant. The spa and tennis court between the cliffs are also not to be missed.

The story of this old mansion dates back to 1377, when its first landowners came to farm the land above the Idrijca River. Sitting amid the alpine peaks and Karst Plateau, Kendov Dvorec is now an elegantly furnished hotel with touches of traditional Slovenian style in its antique interiors of carved wood and decorative lace handmade in Idrija.

An old country house from the late 17th century, La Bastide Saint-Antoine awaits you in the heart of a 25-acre olive grove. Countless generations of the Gleize family have looked after this 18th century post house. The balconies, the mosaiced walkways and the almond-green shutters are the work of Jany, the latest in the line. In the kitchen he reinvents the Provencal recipes of grandmother Gabrielle, with traditional flavours. Sweets are a tribute to Jany’s father, Pierre, a confectioner. Sample the delicious lavender honey ice cream served in it’s bee hive. A vegetable and a landscaped garden blend flowers, fruit and vegetables. In the heart of Uruguay’s most exclusive seaside resort, Chef Jean-Paul Bondoux has recreated a piece of his native Burgundy. In a quiet residential area of Punta del Este, surrounded by a magnificent garden, Bondoux produces authentic French cuisine using products from his own farm, like zucchini flowers stuffed with chicken or roast rack of lamb in garden herbs. “My cuisine is close to the land,” Bondoux says. “I love thyme, rosemary, garlic, onions, tomatoes – everything that comes from the earth.” The boutique next to the restaurant pays tribute to the terroir of France with brioches, croissants and cheeses that can’t be found anywhere else in Uruguay.
