Learn to row like a gondolier

Learn to row like a gondolier

“Rowing while standing and looking to where you're going is a joy for free men, whereas rowing while sitting backwards is the fate of slaves,” is an old saying among the Venetians. However, it's not that easy to navigate through waves while pushing on an oar 15 feet long. To better educate visitors, the Row Venice Association offers an introductory course on how to row using the Voga alla Veneta, the technique used to propel the traditional Venetian gondolas depicted in the paintings of Carpaccio and Canaletto.

The Pinault Collection, in-situ contemporary art

With the renovation and inauguration of the Palazzo Grassi in 2006 and the Punta della Dogana in 2009, French businessman François Pinault created two magnificent environments in which to display his impressive collections of contemporary art. These spaces dedicated to displays created in situ by both established and up-and-coming artists express the creative ideas of the greatest masters of modern art. In these two places, Cy Twombly, Takashi Murakami, Piotr Uklanski and Youssef Nabil have reinvented Venice…

Enjoy sailing on Lake Garda

A must for sailing enthusiasts, Lake Garda boasts excellent conditions for both recreational and competitive sailing. In the morning, you'll be able take advantage of the Peler, Lake Garda's famous wind blowing from the north, while in the afternoon, you'll be pushed by Ora, its famous wind from the south.  While surging through the swells, you'll spot palaces, monasteries and medieval castles amongst the palm, cypress and olive trees that cover the hills. The small ports along the southern shore provide you with numerous options for renting a small sailboat or motorboat.

Olive oil tasting at the Comincioli estate

Although this property is quite austere in appearance, Comincioli is one of the most beautiful estates in the country. It's here, on the Valtenesi hillsides, that the delicious Numero Uno is produced! A visit to this estate run by the same family since 1552 will allow you to experience a part of the production process.
