The ultimate alpine bolthole

The Dutch duo Arturo Bamboo embarks on a new intimate getaway scheme, camera in hand. This time, they immortalize legendary winter places in Austrian Alps with very personal shots. First stop: the historic inn Gasthof Post, located in the renowned winter sports resort of Lech.

After a beautiful sunny drive from Munich through the alps we arrive in the picturesque village of Lech - a beautiful ski resort that appears to have everything: cozy chalets, spectacular peaks, small-scale hotels and a 600-year-old church with an onion dome right at the center.

Right at the centre of the lively main street we find Gasthof Post, which has been family-owned for more than 80 years and is a proud member of Relais & Chateaux for over 40 years.

Entering the property gives us the feeling entering the ultimate Alpine dream - you’ll find antiques and family pieces collected over the years, cozy corners to drink a glass of wine and is also reflected by the warm, discrete staff dressed in beautiful traditional Austrian clothing.
The rooms are laid-out like small chalets, you feel the family history is combined with modern luxury and some boast even their own fireplaces.
In the afternoon we enjoy a long traditional Austrian lunch on the sunny terrace with its signature red cushions and dark wooden tables - the whole atmosphere feels like a living version of a Slim Aarons photograph!
All warmed-up we’ll head to the newly built, state of the art spa area to loosen up our muscles after the day of skiing.
It feels like a Japanese bathing house and has a meditative atmosphere - the most special moment was when we jumped into the panoramic outdoor pool with stunning mountain views.
