As a result of the merger of La Cabro d’Or and L’Oustau de Baumanière, Baumanière has become the epitome of Mediterranean art of living in a magical place. Appreciated by personalities from the political and the media world, this domain was founded by Raymond Thuillier, the "historical monument" of French gastronomy according to Gault et Millau. In 1969, Jean-André Charial took over from his grandfather as the head Chef, a position he held with maestria until today. This respected Chef is now no longer in the kitchens but managing the domaine.  Baumanière remains a unique place, nestled in the Baux-de-Provence rocky outcrops. It encompasses five buildings surrounded by Mediterranean gardens: the L’Oustau, the historical main house, La Maison de Famille, a Provençal farmhouse, the 18th-century manor, and finally Carita and Flora, two country abodes. There are also two gourmet restaurants, the Oustau de Baumanière—an institution where you can appreciate the refined, subtle, and creative cuisine of the chef—and La Cabro d'Or, a Provencal restaurant. The estate also has a spa, three outdoor pools, and a tennis court.

On the grounds of a traditional village that dates back to the 12th century, between Volterra and San Gimignano, Borgo Pignano Volterra – Tuscany rises with its honey-colored stone buildings amid 740 acres of forest and private gardens. A few steps from the center of Madrid, the Sandoval brothers present you with a culinary voyage that is far from conventional. When Antonio Santini’s grandparents opened the Pescatore in 1926, it was a small family restaurant. Today it is one of the most renowned restaurants in Italy. Between Cremona and Mantua, in the Parco dell’Oglio nature reserve, family members share the tasks. In the kitchen, Nadia and Giovanni prepare refined, generous cuisine: lobster terrine with caviar or the renowned tortelli di zucca, with butter and Parmigiano Reggiano, a recipe perfected and handed down over three generations. In the dining room, Antonio, Alberto and Valentina create a warm atmosphere and uncork their best bottles – grands crus from France and Italy.

On the stunning headland where the gulf of Naples meets the gulf of Salerno, Alfonso and Ernesto Iaccarino create dishes that reflect his love for this slice of Italy dotted with lemon groves, vineyards and olive trees. Using fresh produce from his own farm, Le Peracciole, Iaccarino creates simple Mediterranean marvels, such as swordfish with chickpeas and thyme, goatfish with rosemary and cucumber, and pasta with clams and courgettes. His wife and two sons give a family touch to the ambience and the combination of exceptional produce, warm hospitality and Iaccarino’s skills make the difference.

This imposing 17th-century building, which stands on the left bank of the river in Blois, is home to the Fleur de Loire hotel. Overlooking Lake Annecy and facing the Bauge Mountains, The Hôtel Restaurant Clos des Sens is a discrete historic manor built in 1866. Between contemporary preciosity, a rustic touch and true authenticity, the table setting continually dialogues with the works of art.

In this acclaimed traditional Ryotei restaurant on the outskirts of Osaka, Japan’s landmark city, Kashiwaya Osaka Senriyama offers modern Japanese food in a dining room designed in the “Sukiya” style, Japan’s traditional format for tea ceremonies: Fusuma sliding doors, shoji paper screens, tatami mats and Tokonoma reception rooms, each executed in a contemporary style. The menu is limited to just eight dishes, which are changed every month. The specialities of the famous Chef Hideaki Matsuo include Amadai, a dish made with grilled tile fish marinated in a salt shrimp “shiokara” dip, and puffer roe boiled in sake, floating on a turnip soup.

La Grenouillère, originally a typical regional family restaurant, has become under the amazing starred Chef Alexandre Gauthier, one of France's most inventive chefs, a place which is definitely out of the ordinary. The century-old buildings have been preserved, but two sleek new metallic marquees by architect Patrick Bouchain have redesigned the property. The restaurant, which now opens out onto the garden and greenery, serves a radical cuisine, one that is rooted in the local area and uses freely and imaginatively ingredients from the sea and from hunting and gathering. You can extend your sensory experience by staying in one of the huts in the garden.
