A castle in the sky

A castle in the sky

Robert Guerre, a ULM pilot from Brantôme, in Val de Dronne, invites you on a beautiful trip through the skies. With him, you can soar to discover the rich and varied landscapes and architectural treasures of the Périgord Vert. Half hang-glider and half plane, the ultralight ULM allows you to admire sites and take pictures without any reflections, as there are no windows separating your from the outside.

This is the moment you've been waiting for: the ULM driven by Robert Guerre takes speed and takes off. Very quickly, you feel like you're a soaring bird. You could almost perch in the big tree right underneath. Very soon, you see the Abbey of Brantôme, then the meanders of Dronne lead you to the Château de Bourdeilles downstream, or Puyguilhem upstream.

In 2016, the new version of the legendary Grotto of Lascaux opened.

For the first time, Lascaux is entirely revealed. A complete and unprecedented replica traces the discovery of the famous ornate cave. But the adventure does not end there: the entire site questions Lascaux's place in cave art and its relationship with contemporary creation. The opening of the Lascaux International Centre for Cave Art (also called Lascaux 4) marks the beginning of a new adventure combining the emotion of ancestral art and the technological prowess of an interactive museum.

Eyes on the stars

Eyes on the stars

In 2002, a map of the quality of night skies in France was published: above the Causses du Quercy, a black triangle appeared. In the now famous 'Quercy black triangle', the night light is almost entirely natural. The brightness of all the stars is seen without being disturbed by the luminous halo generated by public lighting. Experience a splendid summer evening with the Milky way and stars standing out so intensely against the deep night sky - you'll be in awe!

The Astronomy Club of Gigouzac meets every fortnight on Friday or Saturday and welcomes novices and amateurs to join them for commented observations.
