Childhood friends Maurizio Menichetti and Chef Valeria Piccini opened this restaurant in 1987 on the very same premises where Maurizio’s parents once had a trattoria, in one of the stone houses overlooking the medieval village of Montemerano. Valeria’s outstanding cuisine quickly became one of the most renowned in the country, due to dishes that sing the praises of the region. The Caino, with its nine tables for only eighteen covers, has the intimate atmosphere of an authentic Tuscan restaurant. In an Italy where female chefs are increasingly prominent, this unique gourmet spot is an absolute must.

In 1987, childhood friends Maurizio Menichetti and Chef Cuisinière Valeria Piccini opened a restaurant in the exact spot where Maurizio's parents previously had a trattoria. This stone house perfectly complements the superb medieval village scenery of Montemerano, which is perched on top of a hill. Valeria's excellent cuisine is now renowned throughout Italy thanks to her dishes which bring out the best of the region. The dining room at The Caino only has nine tables and caters for a total of eighteen guests, providing the intimate atmosphere which characterises authentic Tuscan restaurants. It's a completely unmissable gastronomic destination.
