The medieval castle nearby

Follow in the footsteps of former local rulers on an enjoyable walk. Castel Fragsburg served as a hunting lodge for the lords of the neighboring castle on top of the great cliff, which we now affectionately call Castel Fragsburg Paternum. Built in the 14th century, the two properties were bought and sold several times over the following years. Upon acquiring them, the Ortner family brought the two buildings back together, hand in hand, as they were originally. Nowadays the castle is only open for hotel guests to visit and it is the ideal event location for fairytale weddings, celebrations, meetings and incentives.

An excursion to Fragsburg Waterfall

Undoubtedly impressive, the highest waterfall in South Tyrol emerges from a wild and romantic landscape to plunge from a height of 135 meters. Its primitive power and natural beauty make it a must-see in the region. Reach it on a picturesque 20-minute walk from Castel Fragsburg that takes you through vineyards and apple orchards. An invigorating adventure, guaranteed to please adults and children alike.

A visit to Merano

Just 15 minutes by car from Castel Fragsburg, the pretty town of Merano combines Alpine charm with a Mediterranean atmosphere. This renowned spa town is distinguished by its medieval churches and Art Nouveau buildings, which you can admire as you wander alongside the Passer river. Stroll through the vibrant, picturesque streets of the historic town center, then take the path that leads up to Trauttmansdorff Castle, where you can fully take in the spectacular landscape.

Scenic flights over the Alps

The mountain panorama looks all the more beautiful from the air. Departing from Castel Fragsburg, you’ll board a helicopter to fly over some of the most stunning Alpine peaks. From the Dolomites to the Ötztal and Stubai Alps, via the Val Venosta, the region’s valleys, glaciers and summits are revealed, including the Ortler, the highest point in South Tyrol.
