“Enlightenment and meditation in a magical corner of Wales”
Maître de Maison - Anand Rathod
This charming manor house was once the property of Queen Victoria, and the beautiful gardens still show her influence, especially the fine collection of ornamental trees and shrubs. The estate surrounding the hotel, is now one of Britain’s finest bird reserves. The lovely location between the mountains and beaches attracts a plethora of wonderful bird species. Located near Machynlleth, the ancient capital of Wales, the house is now run by Joan Reen and her husband, Artist Rob Reen, whose bold canvasses adorn the walls. The décor shows an artist’s eye, and each room is composed as a work of art. A warm welcome awaits at Ynyshir, where each guest is treated as Royalty.

Our commitments

Situated in the beautiful UNESCO Dovey Biospere Reserve this property resonates with purity and sustainability.

Dating back to the 16th century, this charming little manor house has been cherished by many illustrious owners, including Queen Victoria. Now it is owned by professional Artist Rob Reen and his wife, Joan, who look to preserve the place for future generations.
Each room is composed with an artist’s eye; the striking décor reflects Rob’s bold paintings, glowing with gem-like colour. The same artistry is reflected in the cuisine, where local seafood, lamb and beef are treated with flair. Many ingredients are either foraged or grown in the vegetable garden, served within hours of being picked. The area provides unrivalled walking, in the surrounding 1000acre Bird Reserve, or on the nearby mountains and golden beaches, all of which are so unspoilt they are all designated nature reserves. Come and be captivated and energised by the beauty, peace and purity of this little gem.
