Ellerman House is the quintessential urban retreat for discerning luxury travellers wanting complete exclusivity and privacy in Cape Town. Located in Bantry Bay, it offers spectacular Atlantic Ocean views against the dramatic backdrop of Lion’s Head. Clifton’s beaches are within walking distance, while the best local attractions are 10 minutes by car.
Originally a private residence, the historic Cape Edwardian-style mansion has 13 rooms and suites, two ultra-modern villas, the tranquil Ellerman House Spa, and terraced, indigenous gardens. The Ellerman House Wine Gallery, a cellar for the hotel’s 7500-bottle collection of South African vintage wines, offers an interactive, experiential journey into the world of wine. Enhancing the entire property is the owner’s extensive collection of original South African art.
Each year, Ellerman House organizes an event to raise money for the Click Foundation, an organization that strives to promote literacy in response to the education crisis in South Africa.
The aim of the Click Foundation is to experiment with innovative learning solutions based on new technology. Convinced that children's low proficiency in English is a learning obstacle at all levels of education, the Click Foundation has developed, among other initiatives, an online introduction to English program. The programs implemented have helped over 10,000 students. To support this foundation, Ellerman House organizes the annual ArtAngels, a charity celebration which includes an auction of pieces donated by South African artists. The money raised is put toward equipping schools and developing new programs.
