This small, elusive and rare tree-dwelling reptile has been officially recognized in the prestigious journal Zootaxa. Its identification highlights the ecological importance of the region and pays tribute to Anjajavy le Lodge’s dedication to preserving the ecosystem it is proudly part of.
For over 20 years, the property has been protecting this unique environment, working hand in hand with researchers and local communities. This latest discovery comes courtesy of Aurélien Miralles, Professor at the National Museum of Natural History in Paris, whose research brought this exceptional species to light.
Winner of the Relais & Châteaux Sustainable Development Trophy in 2025, Anjajavy le Lodge embodies the core values upheld by our Association: responsible hospitality, deeply connected to nature and local culture. The official recognition of a new species celebrates this entire philosophy of meaningful, respectful travel and exploration, in harmony with all life on earth.
