Midsummer House stands on the banks of the “Cam”, its history is entwined with that of the river. Crews of young rowers gliding across the water, cows grazing peacefully in the grass… This Victorian villa was built on the communal pastureland of the famous University of Cambridge. Daniel Clifford took over the restaurant in 1998, determined to offer the finest dining in Cambridgeshire. This is a chef who cooks from the heart, cultivating a relaxed, family-like atmosphere. The menu features seasonal ingredients, putting the emphasis on flavor and natural quality. Like the apples from the house’s orchard, a key ingredient in its signature dish: a subtle combination of scallops, truffle, celeriac and apples.

You should have stages in a menu where 1 dish is 3 spoonful, the next dish might be 8 spoonful so what I’m looking for now is a dish where every mouthful is different.”
