Home to a great variety of plant and animal species, some in threat of extinction, the biodiversity found at the foot of the Cederberg Mountain is three times richer than that found in the Amazon forest. This exceptional, bountiful biotope is not only celebrated in the superb culinary spread prepared by the head chef, but it also forms part of conservation projects which aid sustainability of the land, ensuring that it remains a sanctuary for endangered leopard, mountain zebra, yellow fish and cedar trees. Relais & Châteaux also supports local community projects, which include the local museum, primary school and various homes for the aged.
