Bouchard Père & Fils, Great Burgundy wines since 1731
Founded in Beaune in 1731, Bouchard Père & Fils is one of the oldest wine estates in Burgundy, perpetuating tradition for nearly three centuries and nine generations.
Bouchard Père & Fils was established on the site of the old Château de Beaune in 1820, since when it has been the custodian of this former royal fortress built from the 11th century onwards and completed in the 15th by King Louis XI. Its bastions and ramparts have been converted into ageing cellars where several million bottles, including an unparalleled collection of 2,000 19th-century bottles, lie undisturbed in exceptional storage conditions.
Over time, Bouchard Père & Fils has built up an exceptional domaine, and it now boasts one of the Côte d’Or’s most prestigious vineyards: its 130 hectares of vines include 12 hectares classed as Grand Cru and 74 classed as Premier Cru. The company continues to further its expert knowledge and understanding of the great Burgundy terroirs such as Beaune Grèves Vigne de l’Enfant Jésus, Chevalier-Montrachet La Cabotte, Beaune Clos Saint-Landry, Beaune Clos de la Mousse, and Beaune du Château, with seven monopolies and exclusivities among them. In order to bring out the authenticity and full potential of the wines, the estate practises sustainable viticulture throughout its vineyards, which led to its HVE (high environmental value) certification in 2015. This label of excellence, created by the Grenelle Environment Forum, is the highest level in the environmental certification mechanism.
Bouchard Père & Fils wines are served at the finest tables in around one hundred countries.
