“Give priority to quality, strive for excellence” is the House’s age-old motto.
Billecart-Salmon was first and foremost the result of the marriage of Nicolas François Billecart and Élisabeth Salmon in 1818 at Mareuil-sur-Aÿ, a small village near Épernay. Straight after their wedding, they founded their Champagne House in tandem with Louis Salmon, Élisabeth’s brother and a passionate oenologist. More than 200 years later, Billecart-Salmon has grown to be one of the last family-owned independent Champagne houses. Today, its seventh generation, represented by Mathieu Roland-Billecart, is in charge of the House.
Maison Billecart-Salmon’s philosophy on environmental issues focuses on the long term, always looking forward, with a consideration for nature and future generations. Beyond the plots labelled High Environmental Value (HVE) and Sustainable Viticulture in Champagne (VDC), around 100 hectares of the estate’s parcels are certified as Organically Cultivated (AB), 10 of those hectares being biodynamically cultivated.
Enjoyed at the greatest gastronomic restaurants in France and throughout the world or as the centrepiece to intimate family celebrations, Billecart-Salmon Champagnes enhance life’s special moments with elegance and finesse.
