Situated high above the Pacific Ocean with stunning 180 degree views of ocean, pasture-land and golf course, the Lodge at Cape Kidnappers is a place where you can relax, far away from the pressures of every day life and go undisturbed for hours on end; lounge by our infinity edge pool, soak in the Jacuzzi, enjoy a range of spa treatments in our luxurious spa. If you are seeking adventure, take a picnic basket prepared by our Chef James and head out on to the property where we have 6000 acres of beautiful countryside waiting to be explored on marked trails for walking and mountain bikes. Our cluster of luxury lodge buildings is suggestive of a working farm with each suite offering a bedroom with sitting area, walk-in wardrobe, luxurious bathroom and a private balcony with a beautiful view.
Surrounded by 2,400 hectares of farmland in Hawke's Bay, perched on the edge of the Pacific Ocean, The Farm at Cape Kidnappers is also home to a sanctuary for native birds and wildlife.
The largest privately owned and funded wildlife restoration project of its kind in New Zealand, The Cape Sanctuary boasts the most diversity of native birds on an area of mainland coastal New Zealand. The project began with the building of a 10.6km coast-to-coast predator-proof fence across the base of the Cape Kidnappers peninsula. Completed in 2007, the fence prevents predators invading the 2500ha headland, bringing back the coastal communities of land birds, sea birds, reptiles and invertebrates. Key to these efforts are the relocation and protection of juvenile kiwi bird, endangered takahe and the preservation of the gannet colonies and the protection of precious flora and fauna. The hotel now offers the Kiwi Discovery Walk, a guided excursion enabling its guests to observe the kiwis as well as Sanctuary Wildlife Experiences which allow guests to see the ancient tuatara. Proceeds go to the conservation program.
