Venice is a magical place made up over a hundred little islands interconnected by over 400 bridges. The architecture is beautiful and the food is fantastic. We were lucky enough to find an oasis of calm at Londra Palace, in the heart of this busy Italian city.
We arrived by a private water taxi from Venice airport right to the pier outside Hotel Londra Palace. The speedboat was brilliant and we felt like we were in a Bond movie. On arrival, we checked into our luxurious suite on the third floor – which had amazing views of the lagoon.
We were served breakfast in bed – including fresh pastries, crispy bacon, organic eggs – washed down with coffee and a bottle of prosecco on ice.
After breakfast we made our way towards the famous Piazza San Marco and the Doge's Palace, less than 5 minutes away from the hotel.
As lunch time approached, we headed towards the Rialto Market where we found the freshest produce, around 10-15 minutes walk from the hotel.
We then explored the cicchetti bars and discovered the most delicious fritto misto - fried calamari and prawns.
On our way back to the hotel, we stopped by Caffe Florian – the oldest cafe in Italy – for their famous hot chocolate
After a rest in the hotel, we wandered downstairs to the Do Leoni restaurant where the head chef made us some fresh silky pasta with lobster and tomatoes. This was followed by an amazing seafood platter for two.
We had a brilliant weekend in Venice and I would highly recommend the hotel for the grand setting, attentive service, million dollar views and fantastic location.
