Transporting you to a bygone era. The ‘Shikaar’ dinner is organized in the vast wilderness that surrounds Mihir Garh. You are requested to mount camels or climb on to beautifully bedecked camel carts to start your journey towards the Shikaar camp. You are welcomed in true traditional royal style with a glass of refreshing welcome drink and the famous Gypsy musicians of Rajasthan – The Kaalbelias. Large mattresses with bolstered cushions and the traditional ‘Chaar Pai’ beds surrounding the fire beckon you. You dine royally and the menu is full of traditional delicacies from the Rohet kitchens consisting of an array of barbecue delights.
The Marwari horses at Mihir Garh are the pride of the property. Mihir Garh and Rohet boast of the best stables of the Marwari Breed of horses in the country. You get the unique opportunity to ride this beautiful breed of horse. We also have quieter horses for beginners! Itineraries are tailor-made to suit each guest, keeping riding ability and time duration in mind. You also have the option of doing the overnight ride out of Mihir Garh. A superb mobile camp is set up at a picturesque spot about 20–25 km from Mihir Garh. You ride to the camp and overnight there. The tents are very comfortable and fully furnished with proper wooden beds, chairs, luggage racks and an attached bathroom with running water and flush toilets! Lunch on this day is very special as it is with a local farmer’s family in their kitchen! The food is traditional, fresh and absolutely delicious. Served hot as the women of the house cook right in front of you. You could also ride to the nearby properties of Rohet Garh and Fort Chanwa – Luni and spend the night there.
This is truly picnicking like royalty! A beautiful location by one of the many small lakes and jheels that dot the region. An abundance of migratory birds for company, along with the occasional shepherd coming to water his sheep on the far bank, all this while you recline on bolster cushions under the shade of the ‘Jaalki’ tree with a tall glass of something cool and refreshing or you can order wine or beer. Lunch is served under our specially designed tent with ornate tassels, on crisp covers, attended upon by our staff. The food served is hot, and straight out of the Mihir Garh kitchens. An experience worthy of royalty.
