Chef Jalill, or better known as Chef Nikki, Joined Soneva Fushi as the Japanese Chef in June 2016. He heads the Japanese fine dining restaurant, By the Beach, and also conducts Japanese cooking classes for guests.
Half Japanese and half Sri Lankan, Nikki was trained as a chef in Japan from the age of 23 for five years, after which he moved to Sri Lanka followed by the United States to perfect his skills. He returned to Sri Lanka to open his own restaurant, before making his move into hospitality in the Maldives in 2007. He has been part of the Soneva family since 2009.
He also travels the world for Soneva sharing his passion and skills, attending hospitality events and cooking for Soneva enthusiasts.
His food is renowned as the best Japanese food in the Indian Ocean, and Nikki he is loved by guests for not only his culinary skills, but also his friendly personality.
