The combination of the sea and the mountains enables the Stellenbosch wine region to produce exceptional, world-class wines that regularly win awards. The vineyards leaning up against the slopes of Helshoogte mountain give the fruit its rich intensity, making Delaire Graff’s delicious vintages some of the most prestigious in the southern hemisphere. Head for the intimate Wine Lounge to sample the wine and enjoy views of the vines from the terrace in summer.
“Experience a contemporary landscape conceived out of a need to move away from the traditional “vines and roses”. We wanted to be daring and different, to create a haven for the senses and an escape for the soul. The result is an eclectic mix of indigenous and naturalised exotic plants within an innovative design, inspired by the term "Genius Loci" which means ‘the Spirit of the place’. Water features, Cape Dutch-inspired rills and reflective pools add a sense of peace and tranquillity to the dramatic setting. In bloom year round, this garden invites you to take leisurely walks along secluded pathways, discover exquisite sculptures and admire the vistas through the trees and views over Stellenbosch to Cape Town.”
“Take time to discover a collection at home in the landscape. Delaire Graff Estate is a world-class art destination in the Stellenbosch Valley. Each piece of art that adorns the walls and gardens has been personally handpicked by owner Laurence Graff from a much-treasured personal collection. Gaze upon works by renowned local artists such as Anton and Lionel Smit, Deborah Bell, Dylan Lewis, Cecil Skotnes, Kendell Geers, Ndikhumbule Ngqinambi and William Kentridge. The collection includes a number of pieces which speak to the nature of ‘the self’ exploring memory and heritage, South Africa’s political history as well as the deeply personal connection between artist and experience. Vibrant paintings and dramatic sculptures are at home within the contemporary architecture and sculpted gardens creating a unique artistic experience.”
“At Delaire Graff Estate, both restaurants follow the philosophy that the best cuisine begins with the finest ingredients. In my kitchen, we take inspiration for our bistro-chic menu from the seasons and the colours of the Estate gardens creating vibrant dishes bursting with flavour to pair with our Estate wines. We grow many of the ingredients we need in the Estate greenhouse, forage in the local forests for mushrooms and use ethical nearby suppliers for the rest.
