Awaken all the senses

Machu Picchu experience

A private excursion will provide geological and historical information on key areas of interest in the Citadel, one of the New 7 Wonders of the World. For going to Machu Picchu, take a train from Cusco (Poroy) that takes around 4 hrs or you can also take a car trip to Ollantaytambo (2hrs) and then a train to Machu Picchu Village (1.5hrs).

Around Cusco

Luisella Garmendia

Religious and cultural syncretism between the Inca Empire and the Spanish Crown has been visible across five centuries in every street corner of Cusco. Inkaterra La Casona offers an intimate tour around the city, which includes visits to the Cusco’s magnificent Cathedral, with 11 chapels, 7 altarpieces, a lower chorus carved in cedar, and more than 300 paintings and sculptures; the Koricancha (“courtyard of gold” in Quechua), one of most significant Inca temples; and the cobble-stoned streets of the San Blas neighborhood.

Dining experience

Andean trout in tempura, quinoa tabbouleh and braised lamb shank are some of the delicacies available at our boutique hotel’s menu. Harvested from our native orchard in Machu Picchu, organic goods (including red, black and brown quinoa, the Urubamba giant corn and a great variety of potatoes) are supplied to Inkaterra La Casona, first Relais & Châteaux property in Peru. We want to delight our guests unveiling the marvels of the Andean cuisine.

Inkaterra La Casona History

The first Relais & Châteaux property in Peru, Inkaterra La Casona plays a key role in Cusco’s fascinating history. It is strategically located in Plaza Las Nazarenas, as its grounds were initially part of the Warakos Academy, the training grounds of the elite army of the Incas. Since the 16th Century, it became a manor house that had Spanish Conquistador Diego de Almagro and ‘El Libertador’ Simon Bolivar among its guests. After two years of sensitive restoration to emphasize its original architecture, Inkaterra La Casona opened in May 2008 to become the first boutique hotel in Cusco. With colonial furniture and original murals, its interior design reflects the encounter of cultures and traditions across five centuries.
