From its commanding position, high on the sunbathed slopes of the Dolomites, Castel Fragsburg offers its guests an oasis of calm in Italy’s South Tyrol. The hotel is surrounded by a lush 10,000m2 private park—a space which, like the hotel itself, is dedicated to tranquility and well-being.
The hotel’s park is the basis of a close partnership with Laimburg, a South Tyrol’s prestigious center for sustainable agricultural research. It uses its links with Castel Fragsburg for research on trees, soils, vegetables, flowers, and herbs. Projects often involve the cultivation of ancient varieties, and all use organic and environmentally-conscious methods. But the hotel’s cultivation of herbs and flowers isn’t simply for scientific research. Chef Diego Sales makes plentiful use of fresh herbs in his menus. And master herbalist, Renate, uses them too—along with the area’s ancient wisdom—to create the many natural treatments and care products applied in the hotel’s Castellum Natura spa.
