Villa del Quar was created in 47 BC as a Roman villa. The cellar dates back to the same era and holds around 800 different wines from all over the world.
We make three wines using grapes from our vineyards, two reds and one white, named Satyrus, Sublitis, and Ausia respectively. Their labels are written in Latin and feature images and names related to Roman culture. We organise tastings of these excellent wines in the cellar. We have developed wonderful combinations with petit fours and appetisers. The cellar is characterised by a fascinating atmosphere, and provides the perfect setting for technical explanations about the wines and their accompaniments. The property also offers the excellent opportunity to purchase a row of grapevines.
Is there a location better than Verona, Romeo and Juliet's city, for celebrating weddings? During the period when the events narrated by Shakespeare took place, Verona was governed by the Scaligeri family, and the Villa del Quar was one of their castles. In The Taming of the Shrew, Shakespeare in fact describes a Lord of Verona who owns an ancient villa near the city. For the past few years, we have also celebrated civil weddings in the villa. We share some of the advantages of other hotels, but for me, when you're deciding where to spend this unforgettable moment, you cannot fail to prefer Villa del Quar's absolute romanticism.
