Story of a Chef

There are probably only a few hotels in the world which have such a spectacular view and where the kitchen is as good as at the Gourmet Restaurant “Prezioso” at Castel Fragsburg, which has been awarded with a Michelin Star the ninth year in a row.

The panoramic view from the Gourmet lodge, entwined by the glass loggia and wisteria, with the panoramic terrace over Merano and the valley is simply breathtaking. The beautiful and subtly designed interior in Art Nouveau and Deco style, paired with the laid back atmosphere enchants the guests of our restaurant before the first course is served.

With Diego Sales, a very special chef mans the stove. With his exceptional sensibility, intelligence and magic touch for elegant and creative combinations of flavor, texture and color he introduces the art of fine cuisine which one cannot learn but has to be born with. Born in Milan he spent his childhood and youth in Abruzzo. He combines the culinary treasures of his mountainous home province, originality, framers heritage and mystical history with the sensual refinements of his experience as a chef in the best gourmet restaurants in Rom, Venice, Cortina D’Ampezzo, Madonna di Campiglio, Capri and London.

The handpicked, charming restaurant staff and the exquisite selection of wines accompany your unforgettable visit at the “Prezioso” which in English means precious.  Fitting for the restaurant is the Latin saying: nomen est omen.
