On an island entirely given over to organic farming, how can food imports be reduced in favour of shorter supply chains?

Built on a former Caribbean sugarcane plantation, this property is proud of its island and works to promote its natural beauty and the local economy. The Chef uses a variety of island ingredients in his dishes, encouraging the residents to preserve their farms and traditional farming methods. To help the property curb imports, the vegetable farmers are careful to grow the products needed in sufficient quantities. The fishermen, meanwhile, are alerted to the concept of sustainable fishing and learn to reject still growing fish.
