On the mountainside, close to the Inkaterra Machu Picchu Pueblo Hotel, a carpet of native orchids - the largest natural display in the world - decorates the land. In this property, as well as in its sibling hotel Inkaterra Hacienda Urubamba, quinoa and corn are harvested by hand with oxcarts in the organic farms. With these ‘zero carbon’ organic products, the cuisines of Inkaterra properties (including also the Inkaterra La Casona Hotel) explore the flavours and culinary secrets of the Andes. Sustainable cocoa production, close links with the local communities, environmentally friendly excursion: on all fronts, Inkaterra properties located in the Southern Amazon of Peru, also support biodiversity. A future project in Northern Peru will soon be part of the Inkaterra family and preserve a new corner of heaven alive, encouraging responsible fishing and actions to make the region the country’s No. 1 marine reserve.
