From the very outset you realise that you are entering a very different world: a few signs, sometimes imperceptible hints: a welcome message, a simple ?? ower... a little gesture is all it takes. But a little gesture that says it all, this is the prelude to unforgettable moments. Since the very beginning, Relais & Châteaux have been truly adept at the art of welcoming and attending to your every need. The Welcome Trophy is presented to a property that has distinguished itself through the quality of its welcome and service. The ultimate benchmark for excellence, the great champagne house Moët & Chandon joins us in the selection of what epitomises our honour and our pride.

"Since the beginning the excellence of the welcome and service is what we pride ourselves on."

  • Beniya Mukayu

    Japan

Founded in 1928 in the spa town of Yamashiro, Beniya Mukayu is located on the road from the revered Kyoto to the world heritage sites Shirakawago-Gokayama, close to Kanazawa. The hotel’s architecture elegantly emphasizes contrasts between light, shade and neutral colours. Every room has its own private open-air hot spring bath, with a wonderful view of the authentic Japanese garden. The traditional tea ceremony performed by the owner, yoga lessons given every morning, the finest Kaga style Kaiseki cuisine served on locally crafted crockery, as well as invigorating medicinal spa treatments, combine to make Beniya Mukayu a peaceful haven.
